STORY | 10 Days Walk From Polokwane To Pretoria #MenSpeakOut

Matalane Mokgatla has teamed up with other courageous men to embark on a meaningful journey of walking 262 kilometres from Polokwane to the Union Buildings in Pretoria -  in a bid to urge male individuals to open up and speak out against their problems, abolishing the mentality that a man's strength is found in his silence.

The main aim is to break the silence surrounding men's mental health and raise awareness on the need to address this issue. Mokgatla says he believes that a lot of men are dying in their silence because of our society's stereotypes that view male individuals who are outspoken as weak.

The team left Hamanskraal this morning and will be arriving at the Union Buildings today afternoon. Estimated time of arrival 1pm/2pm. We stand in solidarity with Matalane Mokgatla and his team. Gone are the days when men were expected to supress their emotions and suffer in silence.

We recognize that men are equally human beings, and just like everyone else, they are vulnerable to emotional turmoil. This is the reason why we understand the need to create a safer space where men can express themselves without any fear of judgment. We must all take responsibility and join hands in the fight to #ProtectTheBoyChild. #MenSpeakOut
